Local Fireworks Displays

Danbury:

Friday, July 1 at Danbury Fair Mall, 7 Backus Ave, Danbury, rain date Tuesday, July 5. 

Fireworks take place over mall parking lot. Watch from car or bring a lawn chair.

New Milford:

Saturday, July 2 at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Fort Hill Still Meadow, behind Starbucks, ending at approximately 10:15 pm. Rain date for the fireworks is Sunday, July 3rd. The New Milford Lion’s Club is sponsoring a carnival June 30-July 2 at Young’s Field with the last night on the night of the fireworks.

Litchfield:

The Turn of the Century Fest & Pet Parade will be held in Litchfield on July 4th, 2:30-4:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring their furry and/or feathered friends (provided they are caged or leashed) to the end of the parade route. Register your pet at 2:15pm at the Litchfield Historical Society, 7 South Street, Litchfield. After the parade the town celebrates with a “turn of the century” themed party featuring old-time games like sack races, tug-of-war contests, seed-spitting competitions, and an ice cream social. Ridgefield:

Saturday, July 2, rain date Sunday, July 3, at Ridgefield High School’s athletic field, 700 North Salem Road. $15 parking fee, passes must be purchased in advance at Fairfield County Bank, 374 Main Street, Ancona’s Market, 150 Danbury Road, town hall, and the Chamber of Commerce, 9 Bailey Avenue. Gates open at 6 p.m. for picnicking and the sounds of patriotic music, with the fireworks at dusk. Parking at the high school, Scotts Ridge Middle School and Barlow Mountain/Scotland School where shuttle buses will be available.

Westport:

Friday, July 1 at Compo Beach, 64 Compo Beach Road, tickets now on sale at Westport Police Station and Parks & Rec Office, tickets are limited and on sale for $30 per car.  Rain date is Tuesday, July 5.

Middlebury:

3-D fireworks at Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury. The event will take place after dark and benefits Prevent Blindness Tri-State. Viewing glasses will be sold for $1. Parking is $7 on July 4th. Fireworks are sponsored by Naugatuck Savings Bank, Gibraltar Pools, Price Chopper, Pepsi. The park will be open all weekend long and offers rides, games, live entertainment, and water amusements on the beach. ENTRY FEE: Kids Mini Cracker $5.00 Road Race & Walk Pre-Registered $20.00, after June 24th through race day $25.00.

60+ Club $15.00 Registration and Race Packet available at the Bethel Parks & Rec. office 6/27 – 7/1.

AMENITIES: Tech Shirt and Race packets to first 400 ‘Pre-registered’ runners or walkers. T-shirts to first 100 Mini Cracker runners.

*Mini Cracker shirt sizes are limited and will be allotted on a first come first serve basis, therefore for “Mini Cracker” only, shirt sizes are not guaranteed.

$200.00 Cash Prize to the first place male and first place female to complete the road race. $100.00 Cash Prize to the second place male and second place female to complete the road race.

$50.00 Cash Prize to the third place male and third place female to complete the road race. Running Sneakers to the first Bethel male & first Bethel female to complete the road race. Woodbridge Running Company/Brookfield gift certificate to the top finishers in each category.

Awards given to top three male and female runners in each division. 10 & under 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

Chip timing and split time, with finish time posted at the end of road race. Water stations and refreshments will be available to all participants. Musical Entertainment!
